How shakespeare presents romeo’s feelings in act 1 scene 1 and act 2 scene free essay sample

Love is an important theme in most of Shakespeare’s play, including in Romeo and Juliet because love is a stronger force than all the animosity and forces of fate in Romeo and Juliet. In Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare’s play, Shakespeare explores Romeo’s change in attitude to love between Rosaline and Juliet. In Act 1 Scene 1 Shakespeare introduces us to Romeo’s passionate desire towards Rosaline through the use of oxymoron, monologues and vivid imagery. In contrast, in Act 2 Scene 2, when Romeo is addressing Juliet, his language shifts through the use of light, religious and mythical imagery to reflect his newly found romantic love to Juliet. In Act 1 scene 1, Shakespeare explores the attitude of an infatuated and unsettling love of Romeo to Rosaline. Romeo talks about his new found feeling love. â€Å"Ay me, sad hours seem long. Was that my father that went hence so fast? † This quotation shows that Romeo’s mood is sad, depressed, lifeless which makes time seems so long to him. We will write a custom essay sample on How shakespeare presents romeo’s feelings in act 1 scene 1 and act 2 scene or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Romeo is having a new experience to love and he’s having hormonal waving attention because even his father’s big car passed by, he didn’t even noticed it on the moment, he noticed after his father had passed him. Romeo is blindly in love and is confused at the same time. † Love is a smoke made with the fume of sighs. Being purged, fire sparkling in lover’s eyes†. This is a metaphor, a comparison where something is shown to be something else. This example shows that as Romeo is in love with Rosaline, he feels that love makes him blind and it’s torturing. In this example, love is compared as a smoke and Romeo is saying that love is like when smoke goes into your eyes, you would feel just like love, making you blind. The sighs that is in this quotation is the comparison with disappointment about love that is really a lot and is floating everywhere like smoke that floats everywhere in the air. Romeo feels that he’s confused and being tortured by loving Rosaline. Romeo talks about his new-found feeling ‘Alas that love, whose view is muffled still’, highlighting his sense of confusion. This notion is furthered through the use of binary opposition throughout Romeo’s oxymoron ‘O brawling love, O loving hate’. This monologue of strong contrasting images of love and hate in one sentence suggests that Romeo finds the intensity of his emotion towards Rosaline destabilising and his emotion is not calm and peaceful. Indeed, the deployment of oxymoron throughout Romeo’s speech such as ‘heavy lightness’ or ‘cold fire, sick health’ suggests that the character so overwhelmed by his feelings that he loses the sight of his common sense and spins and turns into mad love towards Rosaline. In Act 2, Scene, 2 Romeo’s attitude to love shifts from an infatuated love towards Rosaline to more true and youthful love he feels for Juliet. When Romeo sets his eyes on Juliet for the first time, he uses light imagery to express his feelings ‘Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon’. For Romeo, Juliet is the sun who has brought brightness into his life like the sun that brought brightness to people’s lives. This beautifully romantic imagery highlights the purity of Romeo’s feelings and underscores to the reader the powerful force of love that Romeo is now entangled in. Moreover, Shakespeare uses religious imagery to strengthen Romeo’s feelings. He refers Juliet as a ‘bright angel’, who is ‘a winged messenger of heaven’ . This religious imagery highlights the perfection of Romeo’s love to Juliet just as angels and saints are good and perfect, to Romeo, Juliet is so too. Interestingly, in Act 2 Scene 2 Romeo’s speech becomes more structured and less broken down by the constant repetition of ‘o’ that he often used in Act 1 Scene 1. â€Å"The brightness of her cheek would shame those stars†. Romeo is comparing that Juliet is small but brighter than the stars. â€Å"Love goes towards love as schoolboys from their books, but love, toward school with heavy looks†. This suggests that Romeo is inexperienced, he’s energetic and fast and also straight forward. Through change in syntax, Shakespeare signals to the reader Romeo’s changed attitude to love , he is no longer bewildered, but he is ascertained in his strong and passionate feeling to Juliet. There are also similarities of how Romeo express his feelings between the two girls. He uses lots of metaphorical imagery to describe his feelings. However, Romeo often describes Juliet as light and sweetness. â€Å"look thou but sweet† and â€Å"Juliet is the sun†. As a conclusion, Romeo’s feelings are expressed by Shakespeare differently in Act 1 scene 1 and Act 2 scene 2. His love for Rosaline is not a true love and it is as if he was forced to love because Romeo uses complicated language, his lines are stiff like he is reading or reciting poem. Despite this, Romeo’s expressed feelings for Juliet is truer because he uses more simple words and uses only specific imagery to compare Juliet as light. Even though Romeo had mistaken as love with Rosaline, he then finally finds his true love.

My Public and Private School Experience Professor Ramos Blog

My Public and Private School Experience Photo by å‘ ¨ Ã¥ º · on Pexels.com When I started school I was a kindergartner at Calvary Christian School. It is a private school with about 200-300 students. I went from kindergarten until my freshman year was over. The dress code was a red, white, or blue polo shirt with a Navy Gabardine Box Pleated Jumper or Hamilton Plaid Knife Pleated Jumper for girls from kinder to eighth grade. The boys wore the same shirts with Navy Hawthorne Pleated pants from kinder to senior year. Once a girl reached 9th-12th grade they would wear skirts. The school subjects did not have a variety to choose from. Bible, Math, History, Science, P.E. and Fine Arts were the main classes provided. We all took the same classes together while not having the option of taking any ap classes. I joined the volleyball team but due to my grades my 9th grade year I could not play and I found out on the last day of school that I was going to have to take summer school or get held back. My parents didn’t take that well at all and decided to take me out. I was shocked about the news and began to worry about what is going to happen for the next school year and were I was going to attend. Luckily my mom works for the Beaumont school district and I got transfered over to Beaumont High School because at the time we were living in Banning Ca. I knew that getting adjusted to a new school and people was going to be nerve wracking but I will be gaining a new experience I never had before and I may end up liking it. Beaumont High School had around 2,000-3,000 students, no dress code limitations, counselors and a variety of classes to take. The first day of high school came around I was nervous but excited. When I got ready I remember wearing a black and white t-shirt with light blue shorts and some vans. The first day was a bit embarrassing because my fly was down the entire time and I never noticed it until I dressed out for P.E. even though we weren’t even supposed to dress out. As the weeks and months went by I felt more comfortable, I got used to it very quickly and made new friends along the way. What I learned about diversity from my point of view was the change and the adaptation I was going to have to make. I think that change is very good because it can help you grow, offer new opportunities, it can show progress and new beginnings. Others have helped me with encouragement about going to public school. My family would talk about some things they went through. My Aunt Anita in particular told me that she had to get adjusted to high school when she went while being in public all of her life. She said â€Å" Everyone goes through different stages in their life and starting of high school is one of them and you will get through it and it will be a breeze as time goes on.† I think talking to others about my situation was very beneficial because I got a look of what some of my family have went through and also one of my friends that was currently attending Calvary Christian School. Sarah Weeks and I were the only ones that stayed at that school until high school and we always thought we were going to graduate together. I attended her graduation and it was crazy seeing her up their and realizing we are finishing high school separately. We were both happy and sad that we didn’t graduate together but most importantly were still friends and still reminisce on the little things that happened throughout the years. What I learned the most from attending both of these schools is that you can succeed wherever you go and still learn new things in the process you just have to be determined wherever you go and learn from it. I believe that my experience can show others what kind of change I went through and it ended up being very positive than I thought and people should be open to it in different situations and they should step out of their comfort zone once in awhile because you can gain something out of it and can also share your own story to others whether it be good or bad because every experience is different. I have always wondered how different it would be if I went to public school first and eventually being placed in a private school because it would be a very different encounter and just adjusting to a new routine would take time for me to get used to. My sister was placed in private school for about a year and then started in public and will continue to go there. She is in the first grade right now, but its interesting to know how different both of our experiences were from each others. I would say going to public school has helped me become open to meeting new people and talking to others. I remember being very shy and to myself most of the time but eventually got the courage to be more outgoing. I think going to the private school for so long I was already used to everyone so I wasn’t as shy and to myself because I knew a lot of the people at such a young age. It was hard at first because I didn’t know anyone from bhs and I had to put myself more out there and I really didn’t want to. By opening myself to others I felt like they were really understanding who I am and what type of person I was which made made everything positive. Going to completely different schools is hard but it is doable if you put yourself out there you may have to change somethings in your daily life than you are used to but it can be beneficial to you and give you a new perspective like the school topics, dress code and the different types of people you encounter.

Analyze the character of Joe. (The book A Time of Your Life by William Essay

Analyze the character of Joe. (The book A Time of Your Life by William Saroyan - Essay Example Staged in 1939, the play takes place in ‘Nick’s’ which has been described as an American place and a San Francisco water-front honky-tonk and the central character has vital features altogether. â€Å"The central character is Joe, an independently wealthy ne’er-do-well who, like Squier in his aimlessness, spends his money freely and treating everyone unlucky to drink or cash.† (Krasner, 19) Therefore, the character of Joe in this celebrated play is an important topic of analysis and discussion and this paper undertakes to analyze what makes him behave and speak as he does, how his interactions with other characters reveal his character, what are his chief limitations and, finally, how the character of Joe lives up to or fails to match Saroyan’s opening declaration. In a close understanding of the major character in the play, it becomes lucid that Joe has been an important character revealing the major themes of the play and he lives up to the designs of Saroyan in the play, although there are views suggesting that none of the characters is completed developed to represent all the aspects of the playwright’s points. The character of Joe in the play The Time of Your Life by William Saroyan has been an important agent carrying the plot as well as the representation of the major themes forward and through this character the playwright suggests his major arguments. For example, it is through character of Joe that the playwright develops his major theme of success in the play, and he not only tells about this theme but shows it through the character. â€Å"Saroyan’s descriptions and the actions of the characters are very telling and indicate that the author is interested in what makes someone a good or happy person beyond what is generally considered financial and social success in America. Joe, for example, has made such a large amount of money that he can afford to sit at Nick’s without a job,

It is apparent that parents’ work life affects a child as childcare impacts his/her development. The National Development Institute of Child Health and Human Development found a direct relationship between the time with a childcare provider and the negative actions of a child. Studies have shown that non-maternal care leads to stress. Stress causes behavioral problems. Children who spend most of their time in childcare are three times more likely to behave negatively. A child experiences stress the longer he/she is under childcare which could lead the young to aggression and disobedience. (The Negative Effects of Childcare, 2003). The amount of time under childcare can result in negative behavior. Studies reveal that the quality of childcare does not matter regarding a child's behavior. What matters is

The most important concepts in the business-supply chain relationship Essay

The most important concepts in the business-supply chain relationship - Essay Example For example, the supply chain of an automaker is different from that of a consumer electronics goods manufacturer, meaning their infrastructure also contrast (Oliveira and Gimeno 29). Suppliers in the automotive industry must have adequate capital and facilities to provide materials at competitive prices, and these materials are unique to that industry. On the other hand, automakers should have the capacity to store and process these materials to develop the product and then sell it through the distribution networks. Suppliers and producers must observe relevant legal requirements in their specific industries to avoid attracting punitive measures that would handicap their capacity and freedom to operate (Oliveira and Gimeno 54). Industry-specific legal and regulatory requirements must be observed by both parties, or their relationship would be compromised by interruptions and constraints. For businesses, social and working conditions are part of company policy regarding employee welfare and the employer-employee relationship. They are also closely related to the labor policies of whichever countries they operate in. In recent times, there have been reports of employee maltreatment involving poor working conditions, extremely low wages, and lack of employee rights, especially among suppliers (Stadtler, Kilger, and Meyr 42). Large companies like Nike have been accused of working with rogue suppliers who do not respect labor rights, and this has damaged their reputations. As such, businesses and supply chains must demonstrate adherence to ethical practices and respect for labor laws. This involves communication and operational efficiency. To keep the supply chain running optimally, suppliers must communicate with their partners at various levels and ensure that all processes run seamlessly. There has to be good communication between businesses and suppliers, to reduce

Sometime the staffs do not want to do extra work and find it hard to follow the policy and procedure of their organisation. 2.1 Analyse how information from risk assessments inform care planning for individuals and organisation decision making about policy and procedures. A 75 year old lady was admitted to smart care home for the elderly, she is diagnosed with dementia. She as loss of memory and sometimes she is confused, in the last few weeks she has fallen 3 times as this as to do with her mobility and the medication she is taking daily and what she is eating and drinking . Because of the memory loss miss G tend to wander off some times and get confused and forget where she was going this lead to her feeling anxious and agitated, also new surrounding and people can cause her to be confuse so as staff we have to reassure her more as she become easily disorientated, and sometimes she can harm herself and this is others so support is needed but not restriction. Refer back to the risk assessment to safe guard client. Medication can cause different side effect she needs to have the right dosages also making sure that she is taking them. If you are concern about her having side effect like having upset stomach or nausea you must inform the doctor so her medication can be review. Staff must attended on-going training about medication, while following the correct procedure an how to administer and the storage of medication. Also monitor the wellbeing of miss G with the support of other professionals. Medication risk assessment form is there to make sure we are not overlooking risk when dealing with medication. Miss G find it difficult to Eat and Drink sometime because she forget what she was doing because of the dementia so you have to supervise her ,she do not have much of an appetite and if she is not having enough to eat it can lead to weight loss. Miss G will have to be place on a food plan to monitor her input and output ratio and a weekly weight plan to see how much weight she is losing, by fortified her meals it will help her to maintain her weight while the doctor is inform so she can be assessed by a dietician in case she need additional supplements. Personal hygiene for miss G can be changeling due to her age and the dementia as much as possible we try to explain what is happen to her .good personal hygiene have to be maintain because of infection that can accrue that can lead to her skin breaking down. When assisting miss G with personal care she find it hard and sometime she can be aggressive so too staff much assist and reassure her. Analysis of The Best Little Girl in the World :: Best Little Girl in the World Essays

Analysis of The Best Little Girl in the World    The author of my book is Steven Levenkron. Warner Books published this book in September of 1978 in New York, NY. The genre of my book is fiction with suspense. The Best Little Girl in the World could be based on a true story, but it is not completely true to life. It would fall under the suspense category because the reader does not know if Kessa will live or die. The all-important purposes of this book are to inform and to narrate. The author does a nice job of achieving his purpose. I am now aware of the many dangers of the deadly disease being described. Steven Levenkron has many qualifications. He is a â€Å"practicing psychotherapist with a specialty in eating disorders† (The Best Little Girl in the World page 2). He has been a â€Å"clinical consultant at Montefiore Hospital and Medical Center as well as the Center for the study of Anorexia and Bulimia in New York City† (page 2). He is also a â€Å"current member of ANAD of Highland Park, Illinois† (page 2). This book does have a few weaknesses but more strengths. A weakness would have to be the ending. It is not eventful. I was hoping for a surprise of some sort, and it never came. However, I noted many strengths. The descriptive details seem great. Although the details appear rather gross at points, I think that is a good thing. That way a reader discovers the harsh reality of the disease. â€Å"The thinner is the winner† (The Best Little Girl in the World Steven Levenkron page 25). This is a powerful quote because thinness is what the whole story is based upon. Kessa thinks that the thinner she is the better. She is most definitely proved wrong in the end. I noted three main settings used in this book. The Best Little Girl in the World takes place in the year of 1979. The first one is the Dietrich’s home. Their apartment is located in New York City. The second location is at Francesca’s dancing studio downtown. The third location where the action takes place is in the hospital. Kessa is in the hospital for about three months, and then she is released to live at home. Four main characters are present in this book. They happen to be Kessa, Lila, Grace and Harold.
